START stands for St. Louis Teens Aid Refugees Today. START is a Welcome Neighbor STL program that gives teens the opportunity to get involved in helping refugees and immigrants by fundraising and planning fun activities to do with refugee kids.

START teens volunteer to help refugee families by:

  • Organizing and attending cultural and social activities with refugee children such as the WNSTL winter and Halloween parties

  • Providing one-on-one tutoring at the homes of families WNSTL serves

  • Volunteering at Wednesday night group tutoring sessions

  • Organizing food and household good donation drives at schools
