Welcome Neighbor STL serves refugees and immigrants who have resettled in St. Louis. The majority of our clients have been Syrian and Afghan refugees.   

No matter where they’re from, we stand ready to welcome those fleeing war, violence, and persecution to build new lives of safety, dignity, and self-reliance.

Who is a refugee? 

According the UN refugee agency, a refugee is someone who has forcibly fled their country because of persecution, war, or violence. Most likely, they cannot return home or are afraid to do so. War and ethnic, tribal, and religious violence are leading causes of refugees fleeing their countries.
